What are the types of software for estate agents?
There are 2 major types of software for estate agents currently in the market.
Web-based software:
This software is based in the ‘cloud ‘ and is principally a website in which the estate agent runs the business. As a sophisticated system that manages data of vendors, properties and buyers, it is imperative that all the information and applications reside on a secure and reliable server. Because the data is remote from the estate agent, the software provider must guarantee that there will be no loss of data and can give immediate technical support to any problem. An advantage of having web-based software is accessibility: information can be viewed from anywhere, in the office, at home or on the road as long as there is internet availability. Costing is usually per month.
Desktop software:
This software is simply installed, run and stored on a home or office computer. The advantages of desktop software are that it does not depend on internet availability and that it is generally quicker than internet based software. The charges different also in that usually an upfront cost is made as well as ongoing support costs if subscribed to.
