Website design for Estate and Letting agents -

why not just use Rightmove?

Website design and development for estate and letting agents: if everyone looks on Rightmove then why bother having the best website design?

The majority of estate agents and letting agents today have some form of website. Most agencies have a professionally designed real estate website but some still simply link out to a property portal like Rightmove or FindAProperty. There are several reasons to have a professional agency web site if you are an estate agent or letting agency but the main one is to gain instructions from vendors or from landlords. The other of course is to sell or let properties.

Website development is a crucial element of any successful estate agency or letting agents. The vast majority of internet searches for property these days are made in one of the major portals like Rightmove or FindAProperty. If yours is a small to medium sized estate or letting agency it will take a great deal of effort and skill to get on the first page of any search for property and so estate agents website design should concentrate on what happens when a portal visitor finds a property they are interested in on a portal and then goes to the estate agency website or letting agent web site that is advertising that property on the portal. There may be more than one agency advertising that property so now it becomes vital that your estate agency website design or letting agency website design is better than your competitors. Your agency web site development needs to be better designed, have more functionality and more information than the agencies websites that are competing against you.

The portals will drive traffic to the estate agent website and letting agent website but that’s where it will end if you don’t have the best agency website design.

A great website is essential as it markets you as a business not just lists your properties, as for Lynns comments about being on the first page of Google these days the Google place account is primary and this is what you need to get and optimise up. The account is FREE and Google now show up to 8 as the top results. I spend 95% of my time working with estate agents and letting agents as I used to be one and then moved into the web side of things. The same thing always comes up no one likes portals but are resigned to the fact they have to use them but they should be alongside and this is one side of your business, all should remember to market your own business as well as market your clients properties.

Surely there is a way to get on the first page of Google and bypass these monolithic portals?

I agree - a hot website like www.foxgrant.com is the sort of site you want. Our site took 2 years to develop and is a work in progress. We have over 500 Google Page 1 rankings but it is a non stop job

In my view the most important reason for having a well designed website for us as estate agents is for new instructions. The vendor will look at your office then the website.
